Free PlayStation Plus access announced, but you don't have long

Free multiplayer for all

PlayStation Plus is more than just free games every month, it gives players the ability to play their games online with friends or against others.

Of course, there are some games that can be played without a subscription, like Fortnite, but for the majority of online experiences, a subscription is needed but not for an upcoming weekend.

This weekend is the perfect time to play Elden Ring with your friends on PlayStation

That’s right, PlayStation is giving all users a chance to play games online this weekend, 22 June - 23 June.

Take your pick of the games out there and call up your mates, or text them because it isn’t 2005, and get together to play anything from Call of Duty to Street Fighter.

For this weekend only you’ll have full access to all online services across hundreds of games, but it will be removed again once the event ends, meaning you’ll need to subscribe to PlayStation Plus if you enjoyed your time.

However, that’s not too much of a drama as you get a bumper crop of games every month to download and keep while you’re a member of the service.

This month you can get great games such as Spongebob Squarepants: The Cosmic Shake, and over the last few months players have even had the chance to get their hands on Red Dead Redemption 2.

I’m not trying to sell you on the service, but it is a nice way to experience new games each month and add some quality titles to your backlog.

I’ve certainly added plenty to my library that I will play, one day, I promise. And having it just in case a friend or family member wants to play some games online is handy. It’s often forgotten that you’ll need this kind of access to online services even for games like Elden Ring to function fully, so keep it in mind after trying it this weekend.
