PlayStation Dropping 200+ Hours Worth of Free Games, Brace Yourselves

That's a lot of hours

That exciting middle of the month is here for PlayStation Plus subscribers and there's a raft of new games on offer for those who pay for the Extra or Premium tiers of the subscription service.

This time around, there's a fair bit of variability in the genres available, so there should be a little something for everybody, even if there aren't any huge hitters on this occasion.

Equally, the new games do provide some significant value, particularly bearing mind they're free. According to HowLongToBeat.com, the games available would provide you with more than 200 hours of entertainment, if you were to play all of them through to their conclusions.

The headline act for many will likely be WWE 2K25, a game that did a lot to correct course for the series licensed around the world's most iconic wrestling brand. 2K's takeover of development has been a positive one, and the 2025 edition is certainly the best wrestling game we've seen in recent times (if you can ignore the nonsense microtransactions).

Survival fans amongst you will likely want to jump into Green Hell, a 2019 effort from developer Creepy Jar, where you're tasked with conquering a very dangerous Amazon rainforest after becoming stranded there.

If you're into tactical RPGs, the Persona series bizarrely has the game for you, thanks to Persona 5 Tactica. Though it's not the best example of the genre ever, there's plenty to like, and it's a great little look at the iconic series from a different perspective.

Based on the (slightly bleak) novel of the same name, The Invincible is an unforgiving story-driven sci-fi adventure where you play as a scientist looking for missing members of their crew on the planet Regis III. It's a game where choices matter, and there are a lot of different ways to approach playing.

Fate/Samurai Remnant is the biggest game available in terms of length for September, clocking in at more than 70 hours for most players. It's a 2023 entry for Koei Tecmo's fate series and a solid action RPG to boot.

Rounding out the offering for this month are CONSCRIPT and Crow Country. The former is a top-down survival horror set during the impossibly harrowing events of WW1, with the latter probably being our biggest recommendation overall.

Crow Country is a survival horror set in an abandoned theme park filled with puzzles and riddles. It's an underrated gem and it currently sits on Overwhelmingly Positive reviews on Steam, so it's well worth picking up this time around.

That's all there is to know if you're a PS Plus Extra subscriber, with all of the above games available to download for free from 16 September.
