It is always sad when consoles that defined our childhoods are gradually phased out and that is what is unfortunately happening with the PlayStation 4.
First released back in 2013, the PlayStation 4 gave us some beloved releases such as Grand Theft Auto V, The Last of Us, God of War, Marvel’s Spider-Man and many more.
However, with the PlayStation 5 now a staple of every gamer’s home and with there even rumours of Sony’s next-gen console arriving sooner than we think, it is about time we said goodbye to the PlayStation 4.
That is why 2K Games has announced that two of its titles will be shutting down their servers on the PS4 effective immediately.

The games in question are The Golf Club 2019 and PGA Tour 2K21 so if you are a fan of going golfing on the PS4, you will have to get a move on with any remaining trophies.
As of 30 August, The Golf Club 2019 and PGA Tour 2K21 players will no longer be able to access virtual currency in either game but their servers will remain active until 30 October.
Following 30 October, in-game stores, progression rewards and other online features will no longer be available.
Additionally, as both The Golf Club 2019 and PGA Tour 2K21 only feature online trophies and encourage online matchmaking, this will be your last few weeks to earn any trophies you have left in order to achieve Platinum.

Last but not least, both of these games are no longer available to buy on the PlayStation Store for the PlayStation 4 so it really is the end of an era.
However, it is not all doom and gloom as PGA Tour 2K25 is now available to purchase on the PlayStation 5 as well as on Xbox Series X/S and PC so if you are still eager to play some golf, don’t miss out on this new release.
In the meantime, it may be time to tuck away that PlayStation 4 for good and congratulate it on its amazing run.
