PlayStation Announces Platinum Trophy Gamers Can Now Unlock Exclusive Rewards

PlayStation gamers who have earned the coveted Platinum Trophy in select games will soon be able to unlock exclusive rewards, Sony has confirmed.

Hunting down the Platinum Trophy is a beloved hobby for many PlayStation gamers. It is, for those who don't know, the final Trophy to unlock after completing every other Trophy requirement in a game.

Some Platinums can be a blast to get. I personally really enjoyed getting the Platinums in Marvel's Spider-Man and its sequel, as well as Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.

Others are... less fun. But there are completionists out there who insist on doing everything.

The good news for those hardcore gamers is that they'll now be able to pick up exclusive swag that proves they earned a Platinum Trophy. Or... you know, proves they got it off eBay from someone who did.

Over on the PlayStation Blog, Sony announced that this new scheme will kick off with the Sucker Punch classic Ghost Of Tsushima ahead of the impending sequel.

"Players who have earned the 'Mono No Aware' Gold or 'Living Legend' Platinum trophies in Ghost of Tsushima by December 31, 2025 can unlock access to a selection of limited-edition merchandise," PlayStation writes. "These items have been designed to honor the spirit of Jin Sakai’s journey and the dedication of the fans who walked the same path."

So, to be clear, these are rewards you have to pay for. Basically, it's just extra exclusive merch. I'm sure some people will be into it, though.

PlayStation continues: "Two commemorative Ghost of Tsushima Rewards for pre-order purchase are available starting today for those who have earned those trophies, with designs inspired by the island of Tsushima and Jin’s legendary armor. Each piece was created with close input from Sucker Punch Productions to make sure they authentically capture the game’s atmosphere and artistry."

Once you've earned the Trophies, you can head over to the Ghost Rewards store at ghostrewards.playstation.com (or ghostrewards.eu.playstation.com in Europe and United Kingdom) to secure your collectibles after signing in to PlayStation.

A similar scheme is being planned for Ghost Of Yotei, will more details to come.

PlayStation finishes: "Whether you’ve been with Ghost Of Tsushima since day one or you’re planning to return to the island soon, this is our way of saying thank you for playing — and for carrying the spirit of the Ghost with you."
