The end of the year is set to be a race to the finish when it comes to games which could snag Game of the Year and despite it not being released until October, Ghost of Yōtei may just be a late contender.
Set to launch on PlayStation 5 on 2 October, Ghost of Yōtei is an upcoming action-adventure game and a sequel to 2020’s Ghost of Tsushima.
Developed by Sucker Punch Productions, the game will be based around the theme of “underdog vengeance” as our main character Atsu adopts the persona of an onryō, a spirit of vengeance after a group known as the Yōtei Six murdered her family 16 years previously.
With Ghost of Tsushima being such a hit when it was released back in 2020, there is no surprise that fans are hoping that Ghost of Yōtei will live up to its predecessor and it seems as though some lucky fans will be able to find that out a whole lot sooner.

Courtesy of next month’s Tokyo Game Show, a lucky few will be able to try out Ghost of Yōtei ahead of its full release.
"This year's PlayStation booth will allow visitors to experience a wide range of PlayStation content, including early access to new titles scheduled for release on PlayStation 5, such as Ghost of Yōtei and MARVEL Tokon: Fighting Souls," the Japanese PlayStation Blog post reads.
"Visitors will also be able to experience developer talk events on an adjacent stage and a variety of exhibits."
Running from 25 to 28 September, the Tokyo Game Show will allow you to play Ghost of Yōtei just a week ahead of its full launch and so it will give you a pretty good idea of if the sequel will live up to Ghost of Tsushima.
