As devastated as many of us were when Sucker Punch shifted away from Infamous, it did turn out for the best with Ghost of Tsushima having landed in its stead.
Protagonist Jin Sakai quickly became a face of the PlayStation brand; add promising sales into the mix and Ghost of Tsushima seemed prime to receive a sequel.
As you’ll know, one eventually landed after a five-year long wait in the form of 2025’s Ghost of Yōtei.
Jumping 600 years further down the line, Ghost of Yōtei transformed the series into an anthology, introducing us to Atsu portrayed by the wonderful Erika Ishii.

Shifting from one protagonist and time setting to another could have proven polarising, but Ghost of Yōtei was a colossal success, exceeding its predecessor in several areas.
Erika was also recently nominated for her portrayal of Atsu at the recent BAFTA Games Awards in the Performer In A Leading Role category.
GAMINGbible was in attendance at the ceremony where we caught up with her.
While there’s no saying whether there will be a third instalment in Sucker Punch’s Ghost franchise, we had to ask whether herself and Daisuke Tsuji, the man behind Jin Sakai, had considered setting up a ‘Ghost’ support network.
“Well, there's only two of us at the moment, but I was privileged enough to go see Daisuke in a play, and he is phenomenal,” Erika told us.
“He’s one of the funniest, most charismatic people. I feel like if we teamed up, we could make, like, a ghost team. We could bust as ghosts together.”
Sigh. If only Ghost of Tsushima and Ghost of Yōtei’s timelines weren’t in the way of the Jin and Atsu team-up of our dreams.

“I have learned that it's okay, maybe, to trust community and friends and loved ones,” Erika said of what she’s taken away from portraying Atsu.
“I think that Atsu, because of her hard, hard life and all of her trauma, was so reluctant to open up. And I feel like maybe that could be a relatable sentiment for some people. And that when you can trust brilliant, lovely, thoughtful, kind people, it gives you something better than hate to live for.”
“It has been such an honour to be a part of this because, honestly, I was a huge fan of the first game,” she told us.
“My big goal was to have a game that Ghost of Tsushima fans would still love. And to have this kind of response to it is a huge relief.”
Ghost of Yōtei recently welcomed its Legends update, adding online multiplayer and co-op quests into the mix.
Players will surely also be hoping that the game receives a traditional single-player DLC much like the original Ghost of Tsuhsima did with Iki Island.
Iki Island added a new storyline, location, plus new enemy types, in an experience that ran for a very generous 10 to 15 hours.
That DLC landed just over one year after the base game, so perhaps late 2026 will bring us another treat.
