Ghost of Yōtei will be getting some free DLC next year. And it sounds pretty fantastic.
Released earlier this month, it quickly became a lot of people’s pick to win Game of the Year. While it’s already a complete game in and of itself, speculation around any potential DLC or expansions has followed in recent weeks.
And the game has a pretty decent foundation to build upon, just as Ghost of Tsushima did.
PlayStation has already confirmed that Ghost of Yōtei will be getting a Legends multiplayer mode next year, just as Tsushima did following its launch.

This announcement came back in August, where PlayStation announced during Gamescom: “Legends is our cooperative multiplayer mode featuring a fantastical, supernatural setting in contrast to the grounded world of Ghost of Yōtei.
“And just like Ghost of Tsushima Legends, Ghost of Yōtei Legends will be free DLC for all Ghost of Yōtei owners.”
Expect content similar to the Legends mode in Ghost of Tsushima. There’ll be two-player story missions, along with four-player survival mode matches.
There are four character classes, where each one has the skills and tools necessary to defeat “demonic, giant versions of members of the Yōtei Six”, as well as a variety of new enemies who fight alongside them.

Will Ghost of Yōtei get story DLC?
In terms of whether we’ll see story mode expansions in the same vein as the Iki Island DLC from Ghost of Tsushima, recent comments from Sucker Punch suggests that we may be waiting a while for that announcement.
Ghost of Yōtei co-director Jason Connell spoke about the studio’s philosophy on DLC, saying that listening to community feedback first was important before deciding where to go from there.

“I think for us, we are at the spot in the project where we just get to put it out there and see what's resonating with people and what people love and what people feel like they wish they maybe knew more about Atsu," Connell said. "And I think for us, this is like the most important part of the project, in terms of making decisions like these, because same thing with [Ghost of] Tsushima. You can listen, you can be like, 'Oh, okay. People seem to want to know a little bit more about that relationship or what happened to the dad.' How do you further that character?”
Ghost of Yōtei Legends will launch in 2026 as a free update for all Ghost of Yōtei owners.
