Ghost of Yotei is undoubtedly one of the better releases of 2025, picking up the proverbial baton from its predecessor and running with it, improving on the visuals and maintaining a solid story and gameplay features throughout.
As such, you might be expecting some pretty quick DLC that capitalises on the successful launch and brings new experiences to the player base. Whilst that is likely coming at some point, it might not be quite as soon as you think (or want) if recent comments from the developers are to be believed.
In an interview with Game Informer, and as reported on by Eurogamer, Ghost of Yotei's co-director Jason Connell and lead writer Ian Ryan spoke about how their priority is to listen to feedback from the community first, before they decide exactly where they want to go with future DLC.
"I think for us, we are at the spot in the project where we just get to put it out there and see what's resonating with people and what people love and what people feel like they wish they maybe knew more about Atsu," Connell said. "And I think for us, this is like the most important part of the project, in terms of making decisions like these, because same thing with [Ghost of] Tsushima. You can listen, you can be like, 'Oh, okay. People seem to want to know a little bit more about that relationship or what happened to the dad.' How do you further that character?"

He didn't stop there, however, confirming that the game's community will be at the centre of any decisions they make moving forward. "You get this rare opportunity to actually listen to millions of people about what resonated within a story versus maybe what didn't or what are the holes. And I think that's the mode that you want to be in. And that's sort of the gift," he said.
"Certainly we love Atsu, and we think it's a great character. And just like with Jin, if there's room to improve it or to bring some new elements to life or clarity for the narrative's sake and it falls within what is best for Sucker Punch, then we'll certainly take a hard look at that for sure."
At this point, Sucker Punch Productions has built up a ton of credit thanks to their remarkably consistent output, so it's only fair we let them take the approach they wish without too much resistance, even if it does mean we have to wait a little longer for more gaming goodness.
