It has now been over a month since Ghost of Yōtei was first released and with the Ghost of Tsushima sequel set to be a contender for Game of the Year, what do fans actually think now that some time has passed?
Released on 2 October as the sequel to 2020’s Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Yōtei was one of 2025’s most highly anticipated releases and with an 8.2 user rating on Metacritic, it seems as though the wait was worth it.
However, now that the honeymoon phase is over, are people still enjoying the Sucker Punch Productions title? Is the hype still ongoing?
Well, the hype was most certainly there for our very own Richard Lee Breslin back in October as he described Ghost of Yōtei as “a powerful revenge-driven tale”.
Advert
“Ghost of Yōtei is pure cinematic brilliance, and Sucker Punch Productions deserves to be commended once more for knocking it out of the park and, in some ways, topping its predecessor,” his review reads.

“I’m somewhat torn between this and Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, but without question, Ghost of Yōtei is one of the absolute best games of 2025.”
Earlier this week, user solodark took to r/Ghostofyotei to ask an important question.
“One month later…How’s everyone feeling about Atsu’s adventure?” They asked.
“GoTY has been out for one month - how’s everyone enjoying it? Who’s on a second playthrough already? Who hasn’t started? Who’s been playing 187 hours and only killed the Snake?”
With over 600 comments collected in just three days, it is safe to say that Ghost of Yōtei players are eager to share their thoughts but it seems as though many can agree on one negative point to the game.

Lack of post-game content
“Personally I enjoyed the game overall,” user Demonheero shared.
“However I'm NOT a fan of literally no post game content. Had I known it would be like that then I would have saved all of my bounties until I beat the game.”
This is a sentiment that many others seem to share.
“Bare minimum we should be able to replay camps and duels,” solodark replied.
However, user Schmitty555 thought about it on the bright side.
“Yes, 100%. I would've done something similar.
I guess it'll make the NG+ that much sweeter for us. I'm looking forward to trying out some of the weapons I didn't really get to use that much.”
So the lack of post-game content seems to be one of the downsides of Ghost of Yōtei but definitely not enough to see it miss out on some awards at December’s The Game Awards.
