It’s time to open up Astro Bot once more, as yet another thrilling speedrun level has arrived.

If you’re unaware, developer Team Asobi is in the midst of dropping additional speedrun levels as free DLC.

Last week saw the first course arrive in the form of Building Speed which made use of the game’s Barkster the bulldog mechanic.

Now, players can take on Let it Slide - an icy themed level that’ll rely on your expert timing as you place additional ice platforms to fill in the level’s gaps.

The level has been available for less than 24 hours, and I’ve already seen some worryingly good scores.

In fact, I’ve seen speedruns that rely so precisely on well-timed jumps and hovers that the players in question bypass most of the levels' platforms.

I’m not sure I’ll be matching those times.

Take a look at Astro Bot in action below.

There’s plenty more on the way.

On 31 October, if Halloween isn’t your thing, you can begin work on thinning down your time on Spring-loaded Run.

Following that, Helium Heights will drop on 7 November - which I sense will either be another balloon-centric level, or make use of the inflation mechanic.

Finally, 14 November will bring us Rising Heat.

It sounds as if additional treats are due to land in Astro Bot beyond that.

The game’s director Nicolas Doucet previously took to the PlayStation blog to say, “We want to thank you again for all the love and support you have given to Astro Bot, it means the world to us. That’s all we have for today, however watch this space as there may be even more surprises coming soon.”

We have no idea what those additional surprises are, but I’d love to see that mouse shrinking mechanic return.

I should also add that these speedrun levels will allow players to recruit new Special Bots, with Helldivers II and Stellar Blade characters having already been featured, so make sure that your game is up to date.
