PlayStation has dropped a fresh free gift that’s available for everybody to claim, no PlayStation Plus needed.

You may have heard that Astro Bot is on the way later this year, launching on 6 September.

The platformer is a follow-up to the beloved Astro’s Playroom which acts as somewhat of a tech demo on the PlayStation 5.

If you own a PlayStation 5 and are yet to dive in, you need to change that. Astro’s Playroom is one of the best platformers out there and it’s totally free.

Astro Bot, on the other hand, won’t be free but it will take players on a dazzling new adventure through a land filled with nods to both pieces of PlayStation hardware and the company’s vast catalogue of IPs.

To celebrate the game’s upcoming launch, a series of free Astro avatars have been launched, redeemable to both those on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

Yes, an avatar isn’t the world’s most exciting free gift but it’s a nice way to show your friend’s list that you’re a fan of this adorable little robot should you choose to don one of the four available options.

Take a look at Astro Bot in action below.

These rewards are available following a Days of Play event which tasked PlayStation users with collectively playing a certain number of hours of Astro’s Playroom.

The prize was originally a PlayStation Stars digital collectible but that service remains down and unavailable. As the target was met during this time, the avatars were handed out instead.

If you want to don your Astro pride, you can do so using the redemption codes below:

  • North America: MKHX-PJGL-HQA2
  • Europe/Australia/New Zealand: JPFQ-66LN-QGLJ
  • Japan: 4GDE-JE36-4L6E
  • Korea: 8M8N-HE7E-A8XP
  • Hong Kong: 7M3H-D6JE-JDAJ

Simply head over to the PlayStation Store, find the ‘Redeem Code’ option in the top right and type in the code as seen above before 11 July. It’s that simple.

We had the opportunity to go hands-on with Astro Bot, writing, “Astro Bot oozes the creativity I’d expect from Nintendo’s games, and it’s partly the reason I suspect it to be a contender for my GOTY if the full game is just as good as my hands-on demo.”
