Yesterday saw Sony unveil more about the latest piece of PlayStation hardware, but despite the initial excitement over a new launch, fans are now sharing their true thoughts.

Titled the FlexStrike, this new piece of Sony hardware is a Wireless Fight Stick formerly known by its codename Project Defiant.

As PlayStation’s first wireless fight stick, the controller will reportedly come alongside a sling carry case and is set to launch some time in 2026.

We reported on the FlexStrike following its announcement yesterday and, at first glance, fans seemed excited to take on some of their favourite fighting games with a sleek, wireless controller.

However, now that the dust has settled, it seems as though thoughts have changed and one of the biggest areas of contention seems to be based around the lack of a price reveal.

“£500,” one fan estimated. “Simply because it has the PS logo on it. Pass. It also should include wired.” It does, in fact, include wired I will add.

Another fan agreed, adding, “Nice, how much though?”

As mentioned, Sony has yet to release a price point for the FlexStrike but we can safely assume that it will be over £200.

With the PlayStation 6 to save up for, it is no wonder that PlayStation users are hesitant to splash the cash on this new piece of hardware but it seems as though it is a must-buy for fans of the fighting genre.

“It’s a special time of year for fighting game fans and competitors gearing up for the Evolution Championship Series (Evo) in Las Vegas this weekend,” the official blog post reads.

“To kick off this exciting week, we’re pleased to share new images and the official name for Project Defiant, now called FlexStrike wireless fight stick. Compatible with PS5 or PC via a wired connection or wirelessly with PlayStation Link, our innovative ultra-low latency wireless technology, FlexStrike wireless fight stick features mechanical switch buttons and toolless swappable restrictor gates."

"These include square, circle, and octagon restrictor gates that fit into the fight stick’s built-in storage compartments alongside the included PS Link USB adapter. Players can easily and securely transport the fight stick, all of its components such as the included USB-C cable, and more to a local fight night, a friend’s house, or a tournament with the included sling carry case, and stay ready to play with the built-in rechargeable battery.”

As mentioned, the PlayStation FlexStrike is set to launch some time in 2026 and hopefully, we will have received a price tag before the end of the year.
