PlayStation 5 owners just realising there's a hidden menu

You're likely not getting the most out of your console

Yet another handy feature has been uncovered by one PlayStation 5 user.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, it’s well worth browsing your PlayStation 5’s settings from time to time, particularly following a system update.

Yes, it’s not the most fun pastime. I’d much rather dive straight into a game, but it can yield some great results.

For example, I bet you didn’t know that you could preset your difficulty and graphics preferences, saving time when you embark on a new game playthrough?

There are plenty of other little tricks which can save you precious memory space or boost your graphics.

The discovery I bring you today concerns a hidden menu that many of us likely didn’t know even existed.

ICYMI: Astro Bot is set to launch on PlayStation 5 on 5 September. Take a look at the game’s delightful trailer below.

This tidbit was brought to light by Reddit user Wilde_SIE.

They wrote, “Most of you may already be aware of this, but the PS5 Control Centre has hidden options by default.”

“While the Control Centre is displayed, highlight one of the icons (e.g. ‘Home’) and press the Options button. You can now add those ‘hidden controls’ to the Control Centre.”

This, I did not know. The additional hidden controls concern things like your connectivity and network settings - handy things to have quick access to.

“[The] options key will reveal contextual menus in lots of parts of the console like experience switcher and some tiles too,” added a knowledgeable portugepunk.

If you do make any changes you don’t end up liking, you can access this hidden menu once again by pressing the options button whilst on the control centre, and then from there, you can click to revert to default settings.

The PlayStation 5 can be completely tailored to suit your needs. If only we all made the most of its adaptability.
