PlayStation 5 has a hidden setting will save you so much time

This underutilised PlayStation 5 feature is going to save you so much hassle every time you open a new game.

We all know the reality of starting a new game. Before things get properly underway, you’re likely going to have to contend with several settings menus.

Of course, while not exactly exciting, these menus are there for our own benefit, allowing us to adjust everything from brightness to difficulty.

There are usually also options for accessibility adjustments and subtitles. These are all necessary and important things we must see to in order to get the best gaming experience but it doesn’t make that final wait before diving into the actual game itself any easier.

In fact, you may find yourself haphazardly selecting the wrong settings just so you can speed through.

What if I told you that if you’re a PlayStation 5 user, there’s a handy way that you can massively speed up this process?

Rise of the Ronin was the last game to confront me with endless menus. Take a look at the game in action below.

As pointed out by Reddit user tizorres, you can actually select your preferences for many common settings, including difficulty and mode, via your PlayStation 5’s own console settings.

The user pointed out their favourite underrated PS5 tips and tricks, writing, “Default game settings: automatically set game difficulty, graphics mode, and camera movement for your games in Game Presets.”

To do so, go to your settings, followed by ‘Saved Data and Game/App Settings’. Then, select Game Presents.

Here, you can then select your preferences for difficulty, performance mode or resolution mode, first-person view, third-person view, subtitles and audio, and online multiplayer sessions.

These settings will only apply to PS5 games so you may need to still make adjustments in a few games but hey, it’s a welcomed headstart that I’m sure you’re currently not taking advantage of.

Of course, these settings aren’t locked in. If you’ve opted for a medium difficulty in your PS5’s settings, you can still override this and choose hard or easy should you wish upon loading up a new game.

It may not be the epitome of fun browsing your console’s settings but there are plenty of handy features packed inside our PS5 just waiting to be utilised.
