PlayStation 5 gamers are just finding out about a secret feature on the DualSense controller.
Over the years, we’ve had some fantastic controllers for consoles like the SNES, Xbox and PlayStation. Some are arguably more nostalgic rather than being practical; Nintendo 64 and GameCube, I’m looking at you.
However, when it comes to quality controllers that more than serve their purpose, you can’t go much wrong than the modern official Xbox controller and the PlayStation 5’s DualSense.
If I had to pick a favourite modern controller, as much as I appreciate my Xbox, the DualSense wins my contest, hands down.

Not only does it look stylish and feel comfortable to hold, but the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers also add an extra layer of immersion when playing some games.
Speaking of the DualSense controller, a Reddit user has shared a feature that many of us may have missed.
I’m sure all of us have noticed the mute mic button just below the PlayStation icon button that takes you back to the PS5’s dashboard. As is probably obvious, this mutes your mic; however, it does more than just that.
As brought to our attention by Reddit user WorldWiseWilk, if you hold down the mute button for a few seconds or so, it will mute the entire lobby chat in multiplayer games such as Call of Duty: Warzone and Fortnite, not just your mic.

“If the PS6 controller doesn’t have this button, I will riot in the streets,” CrotasScrota84 declared, kicking off the discussion on the thread. “It’s perhaps the best thing to ever be on a controller.”
“I've owned my PS5 for a year and a half, and I only just found out the extra-long hold-down-the-mute-button trick last week. It blew my mind,” revealed WorldWiseWilk.
“FYI: To any watchers and lurkers, holding down the mute button mutes ALL AUDIO coming from your PlayStation. You’ve had a TV mute button with you the whole time,” they concluded.
“I’m sorry, what? I’ve had a PS5 since launch, and it’s the first time I've learned about this. That's an amazing feature,” replied Sheepreak.

“I was the same. I’ve had my PS5 since just after launch and only found out about it by accident a few months ago, when I was moving my controller and I held it funny,” explained MyUserNameLeft. “I sat in disbelief when I noticed what it had done. I now use this feature daily.”
So, there you have it, you no longer need to go into console or in-game settings to mute all audio, just press the PlayStation icon for a few seconds, and it can be done on the fly. Happy days!
