We all know that one backseat gamer, constantly telling you to 'go there', 'watch out', and other useless callouts.
Perhaps you're even that person, turning your infinite gaming wisdom to teach Twitch, YouTube, and TikTok streamers how not to be complete failures.
Now, these armchair co-stars are getting more influence.
A new Sony patent has been discovered that could soon give the tapped-out player so much more control by introducing an adaptive cursor that can give online viewers a way to point them in the right direction.
Streamer watchers are getting the power with PlayStation 5's latest patent
With streamers becoming increasingly annoying to watch, given a heightened skill level in recently-released games, Sony is putting viewers to good use.

A new patent will introduce new cursors that viewers can place on a content creator's PlayStation console that will replace spamming instructions and directions into Twitch chat.
According to the patent, which was filed in 2023, the feature will include "game-specific screen share features can be provided to viewers of a video game livestream.
"The viewers can control a themed or adaptive cursor presented to the gamer during gameplay, and can also provide themed or adaptive sentiment-based reactions to the gamer during gameplay.
"The cursor and reactions can then be surfaced to the gamer a number of ways and can even be tied back into the game execution environment itself.

Sony is pushing the boundaries of what can be done with a PlayStation with its new-era patents, which are piled in heaps throughout the blue-team offices.
At the top of the pile is the 'Ghost Player' tool, which will deploy a spectral second user into your games that can help guide you through the hardest traversal parts of a game, should you get stuck.
Yet not all of the new features are as well-received.
Specifically, an influx of AI-supported patents, which will support the ghost player tool and other creative PlayStation gaming features, has been ridiculed by players.
No matter your stance on AI, PlayStation will be getting some great and some dodgy features, and we will be there to suffer or love them.
