If you load up my PlayStation 5, you’ll find it on the default background settings; criminal, I know.
But for those of you who do enjoy partaking in the act of customisation, you’re going to enjoy what I have to say next.
PlayStation 5 users can now make use of two new animated backgrounds reflecting two of this year’s biggest releases.
As reported by PushSquare, the first is for EA’s Battlefield 6 which finally landed last week and has rapidly ushered in huge player numbers.

The second is for 2K’s NBA 2K26, the latest instalment from the ever reliable basketball franchise.
They only edit your Welcome Screen, but it’s a fun way to show your love for a certain franchise if either Battlefield 6 or NBA 2K26 are your thing.
The red-hued Battlefield 6 option features a masked character front and centre, with some explosive action taking place in the background, reflecting the game’s key art.
The NBA 2K26 theme features three, assumedly, popular players.

I’ll be honest; I’ve never watched a game of basketball so I won’t attempt to tell you who these people are.
These themes pale in comparison to those which we used to receive during the PlayStation 4 era which totally overhauled our consoles.
I’m talking themed icons, dynamic backgrounds, an accompanying soundtrack … I’m sure you remember the days.
Still, it’s nice that PS5 users are now able to customise their console in some way.

If you do want to locate either of these new backgrounds, head to settings, followed by ‘Themes & Background’, and you should be able to find what you need there.
Just hopping back to Battlefield 6, if you haven’t yet tried it, it’s well worth your time.
In our review, GAMINGbible’s Olly Smith awarded the game a score of eight, writing, “Overall, it’s the multiplayer that remains Battlefield 6’s greatest strength, as it always has for this series. Well-designed maps and strong teamplay features make for interesting online rounds.”
He continued, “This bleeds out into other aspects of the game; the gunplay, the weapon customisation, and the destruction mechanics. It’s punchy, direct, and exciting. It all feels carefully tuned to how players have wanted the game to be like since the golden era of the series.”

As for NBA 2K26, that secured a respectable score of 82 on Metacritic when it landed last month.
“NBA 2K26 features a ton of tweaks and additions to make it the best in the series, with stellar presentation and important gameplay improvements,” said Loot Level Chill, awarding the game a score of nine.
And if neither of these games float your boat, there are plenty of other background options, so go and have a browse.
