It appears as if Santa Monica Studio’s next project has come to light, and it’s a God of War spin-off with Faye as the central character.
Santa Monica Studio hasn’t been able to catch a break lately.
The developer recently surfaced during State of Play, where a remake of God of War’s original trilogy was confirmed whilst metroidvania spin-off God of War: Sons of Sparta was shadowdropped.
I’d assume Santa Monica then thought it might be able to skulk back into the shadows. Nuh uh.

Days after the showcase, leakers claimed that the studio was working on another secret project that was not a new IP but perhaps felt like one. It was teased to be revealed this summer.
Then, current Kratos actor Christopher Judge said much the same, revealing that he was working on a new God of War project that would surface this summer.
In recent days, leakers elbaorated and said the God of War franchise would be taking an MCU approach with new characters taking the spotlight in a variety of spin-offs.
And finally, we now know what that’ll look like as by all accounts, Kratos’ wife in the Norse Saga, Faye, will be leading said spin-off.
This is according to NateTheHate2.
Faye Will Lead an Action Focused God of War Spin-Off
“The game is set within the God of War universe and the lead character will be Faye,” he began.
“Gameplay is said to differ from the Norse God of War games with more of a focus on action.”
Faye played an important role in the Norse Saga, but she’s not exactly a large part of it.
It’s her death that sets husband Kratos and son Atreus on their journey in 2018’s God of War.
The character subsequently appears in flashbacks, but no reasoning is ever given for what led to her death.

For years, fans have wondered whether Faye simply died of illness or whether it’s due to events yet to be unveiled.
Could this rumoured spin-off provide the answers we seek?
We know Faye is an adept warrior, even if we never see her skills in action. You may recall that it was a clash between Faye and Thor that resulted in the formation of Vanaheim's The Crater.
It’s pretty cool that we might finally be able to step into the character’s past.
Assumedly, that means Deborah Ann Woll would return to reprise the role, and it’s very possible that we could see plenty of other familiar characters.
NateTheHate2 continued, adding, “Current plan: Reveal this year/release first half 2027 - barring any delay.”
That fits with what we’ve heard from other leakers.
I’d suspect that either the reveal will fall during Summer Game Fest or another State of Play is due to be held this summer.
Typically, I would urge you to take a leak of this nature with a pinch of salt.
In this instance though, with so many voices shouting the same claim, I’m of the opinion that there’s no smoke without fire.
