Prime Video’s God of War TV adaptation may have found its Kratos, but it’s not the only surprise in store for fans of Santa Monica Studio’s acclaimed franchise today.
God of War Ragnarök has just dropped a surprise new update that introduces a brand new feature that many of us will find incredibly useful.
As reported by PlayStation Lifestyle, update 06.06 has arrived for God of War Ragnarök and it “adds compatibility for Power Saver mode on PS5 and PS5 Pro”.
You may be thinking, “Is that it?”, but don’t underestimate the power of Power Save mode, my friends.

Power Save was first introduced to PlayStation 5 consoles in September of last year and it essentially reduces your console’s power consumption whilst playing games. Less power consumed is, first of all, great for the environment but perhaps more noticeably, it’s great for your bank account.
Reducing your power consumption whilst gaming will hopefully reduce your energy bills somewhat.
In the months since Power Save was introduced, we’ve seen various titles updated to support the feature and now, at long last, God of War Ragnarök joins the line-up.
That is all the update appears to do but we can hardly complain. It’s already been a major 24 hours for God of War fans.

Ryan Hurst Claims The Role
In case you missed it, Ryan Hurst has been cast in the role of Kratos for Prime Video’s upcoming TV adaptation of God of War which, yes, will be live-action.
Hurst is already closely linked to the franchise having portrayed Thor in God of War Ragnarök, so it’ll be incredibly weird to now see him step into another role.

That does mean he’s already good buddies with video game Kratos actor Christopher Judge, so I wonder if Judge has already offered any words of advice.
Currently, Kratos is the only role that has been cast. There’s no word on who might portray Atreus, Sindri, Brok, Freya or Mimir.
By all accounts though, Hurst’s casting appears to have gone down well with fans which is a relief given that his name hadn’t really surfaced as an obvious fan pick.
The show is reportedly set to begin filming in March of this year, so I’d say we’re very likely looking at a 2027 premiere if all goes to plan.

The series is expected to adapt God of War rather than tell a new story.
Of course, we’re all itching for news on a new God of War game too, especially as there’s no word on what Santa Monica is working on.
The studio has quietly been beavering away since God of War Ragnarök’s launch in 2022, with the exception of the launch of the game’s Valhalla DLC.
Later this year, it’ll mark four years since Ragnarök landed, so I’d hazard a guess that the studio’s next project will be surfacing sooner rather than later.
