It appears as though the next mainline God of War game could be announced later this month.
With it being almost four years now since God of War Ragnarok came out, there’s been quite a lot of recent movement on the series with its new projects.
We just had God of War: Sons of Sparta release on PS5, while an upcoming remake of the original trilogy and a television adaptation for Amazon Prime Video are in the works.
It seems like the next mainline God of War title may also be readying up for an announcement soon, at least according to an insider source.

On the latest episode of Insider Gaming Weekly, the podcast from Insider Gaming, Tom Henderson claims to have heard rumours about the next God of War game being “announced very soon and in April”.
See the embedded video below (timestamped to 25:19) for his comments on the matter.
This is in relation to speculation that a PlayStation State of Play could be held this month, which is where Henderson reckons the next God of War will be announced, or if Sony will wait until June when Summer Game Fest occurs.
It’s worth noting that this rumoured game is not related to the trilogy remake, but is instead the game being directed by Cory Barlog.

Last month, insider NateTheHate claimed that the next God of War game would feature Faye, Kratos’ wife, as the main protagonist.
“Here's what I have heard,” NateTheHate wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “Yes, the game is set within the God of War universe & the lead character will be Faye.
“Gameplay is said to differ from the Norse God of War games with more of a focus on action. Current plan: Reveal this year/release first half 2027 - barring any delay.”
If true, it sounds like a reveal coming some time between April and June is on the cards, and we’ll likely know more whenever the next PlayStation State of Play is announced.
The last State of Play was only held back in February, where in addition to the God of War Trilogy Remake, we also saw game announcements for Crimson Moon, Untitled John Wick game, and Kena: Scars of Kosmora.
