Days Gone fans can now claim a free download following a highly anticipated announcement.
Following what felt like endless spouts of speculation, Sony and Bend Studio finally announced the long-awaited Days Gone remaster during last night’s State of Play event.

“Ride and fight into a deadly, post-pandemic America. Play as Deacon St. John, a drifter and bounty hunter who rides the broken road, fighting to survive while searching for a reason to live in this open-world action-adventure game,” reads the synopsis of the game.
Released in 2019 on PlayStation 4 before arriving on PC two years later, despite having a rocky launch, Days Gone garnered a loyal following with many hoping that it will one day be treated to a sequel.

Sure the story was very slow-burn but once it started to get rolling, I felt invested in its tale and characters. It’s also a sight to behold seeing hundreds of Freakers aka zombies chance you resulting in a huge surge of panic.
While it doesn't seem like a sequel will be arriving anytime soon, as detailed on the PlayStation Blog, fans will still no doubt find joy in Days Gone Remastered which comes with improved performance and visuals on PC, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro as well as a wealth of additional modes.

Days Gone Remastered will come with a new horde, speedrun, permadeath and enhanced photo modes along with additional DualSense and accessibility features. What’s more, if you already own the game on PS4, you can upgrade to the remastered version for just £10.
However, returning players who pre-order Days Gone Remastered will be gifted with eight free PSN Avatars featuring characters from the game and five early in-game unlocks.
Hopefully, with a bit of luck, if this remastered release proves to be a success, we might actually get Days Gone 2 one day.
Days Gone Remastered will be released on PC and PlayStation 5 on 25 April 2025.
