The Ocarina of Time Unreal Engine 5 fan remake has had a new update, and Zelda fans are blown away by the new effects on display.

We’ve been following the fan-made Unreal Engine 5 remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for quite some time now, and it’s made some big strides recently.

A month ago, remake developer CryZENx posted a new update on their YouTube channel showing off Zora’s Domain from the Unreal Engine 5 remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

Apparently, the level took about a month and a half to develop, and it’s now ready to show off.

The uploaded video shows off some of the new water effects present in the remake, as well as the interior cave lighting and design of the Zora.

Check out the video for yourself if you want to see some of these effects in action. It’s 38 minutes long, so it gives you an excellent breakdown of everything new in this version.

“This is just amazing! I've been following you since the beginning of this project and it's been an incredible journey,” writes one comment in the video replies.

“I wouldn't say it's a Nintendo style I'd picture but the attention to detail on materials and environment/ambient settings really makes this look polished,” wrote another. “I'm getting 0 "unreal grass field with Mario running around" vibes, incredible work.”

“I love how over the course of OoT in Unreal, more and more of an artstyle was developed,” a third comment writes. “It went from "realistic zelda" to "Unreal Engine Zelda", where realism and stylization were meshed together in a really great way! Looks amazing!”

Zora’s Domain is available from CryZENx’s Patreon page. It’s free for all to download, but Patreon subscribers can also access more features such as a 60FPS option.

CryZENx has been working on the Unreal Engine 5 remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for a few years now. In addition to this, they are also working on remakes for Majora's Mask, Super Mario 64, and Super Mario Sunshine.
