Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake Update Is the Worst Possible Outcome

It's not looking good

If there is one thing that Nintendo fans have been calling out for for the past two decades, it is a The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake.

However, a recent comment by one reliable Nintendo insider does not bode well for those still feeling hopeful.

First released way back in 1998 for the Nintendo 64, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is widely regarded as the best Zelda entry.

However, although The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D was released on the Nintendo 3DS back in 2011, fans are still calling out for yet another official remake and even believed that one was currently in development.

Nevertheless, it seems as though that may not be the case.

According to well-known Nintendo insider Nate the Hate, they claimed that they had not heard of such a remake when asked about it.

Of course, this is not clear-cut proof that an Ocarina of Time remake is not in development but if a well-known and knowledgeable insider has heard nothing about it, it is not looking good.

The mysterious remake has been a topic of discussion for many years, so it is perhaps no surprise that Nintendo itself has been asked about it, despite it usually not commenting on rumours.

Back in 2023, when asked about a potential Ocarina of Time remake, series producer Eiji Aonuma simply said “no comment” with a laugh.

Aonuma acknowledged the importance of the game to the Zelda franchise as a whole, but refused to comment any further on a potential remake.

Although this is not a confirmation by any means, it is also not a straight up denial so take that as you will.

In the meantime, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is available via emulation and some creators are even pushing the game to its limit by playing the 1998 game at an impressive 4K.

Hopefully this will inspire an official remake more than ever.
