breaking news

Summer Game Fest is well underway, bringing with it updates on plenty of titles already on our wishlists.
It’s easy to overlook the event’s smaller announcements though; nestled between the headliners, some wonderful new IPs have been unveiled.
Into The Unwell is one that’s caught my eye, a debut title from new indie Swedish studio She Was Such A Good Horse. Quirky Name.

The studio may be new, but Into The Unwell has the support of successful publisher Coffee Stain Publishing which has brought us the likes of Valheim and Deep Rock Galactic over the years.
Into The Unwell is a co-op action roguelite set within a surreal cartoon world inspired by the 1930s rubber hose art style.
It’s bringing its own flavouring to the action roguelite genre though; instead of hack n’ slash gameplay, here, you’ve got whack n’ slash.
Alone, as a duo, or as a trio, players will take on the roles of various absurd characters, battling through a cartoon fever dream filled with “eccentric anthropomorphic enemies”.

Throughout the title, you’ll unlock additional characters, new “unorthodox” weapons and Talent Stars which can be used to unleash strange powers.
Into The Unwell will be launching in Early Access on Steam very soon, although devs haven’t specified exactly when “soon” is.

“It feels surreal to finally share Into the Unwell with the world,” said Mårten Stockhaus, co-founder of She Was Such A Good Horse, in a press release.

“This game is a celebration of our quirks, flaws, and the strange humour that keeps us going. The blend of platforming, action roguelite, and co-op gameplay reflects our vision of turning the absurd into something unique and enjoyable. We’re beyond excited for players to experience the madness with their friends.”
Ahead of the game’s Early Access launch, you can actually sample the game for free on PC thanks to a closed beta over on Steam.
Simply head to the game’s Steam page, scroll down and you should find the option to register your interest.
Fill out the requested information and devs should be in touch with a download file for the beta build.

We’ll be keeping an eye out for the game’s full release date. Let’s hope it’s coming to consoles further down the road.
