Just when you thought that Stardew Valley couldn't get any better, along comes the talented modding community with a free download for the ages.
Originally released in 2016, created by the then solo developer at ConcernedApe, namely Eric Barone, not even he could have predicted how popular Stardew Valley would become.
There have been many indie darlings over the years, and it’s fair to say that Stardew Valley sits firmly amongst the best with the likes of Fez, Celeste, Hallow Knight, and Braid, to name a few. It’s probably also fair to say, Stardew Valley is a flag bearer of cosy indie games.
“You've inherited your grandfather's old farm plot in Stardew Valley,” reads the synopsis of the game. “Armed with hand-me-down tools and a few coins, you set out to begin your new life. Can you learn to live off the land and turn these overgrown fields into a thriving home?”

Since its release nearly a decade ago, Eric Barone has supported Stardew Valley with a wealth of free content updates, not only exceeding the value of the game but constantly making it feel fresh, even for the most devoted of fans.
Furthermore, Stardew Valley is also very mod-friendly, so its wonderful modding community has been breathing new life into the game for as long as it's been about. Which is a good job to be honest, because we still have no release date for its official successor, Haunted Chocolatier.
Speaking of mods, if you’re looking for something extra to keep you busy, then look no further than ‘Ferngill Arcadium - New Arcade Games’.
Created by Deathbygin, ‘Ferngill Arcadium - New Arcade Games’ is free to download right now via Nexusmods.

“Heard the buzz? A mysterious old arcade just a short bus ride from Pelican Town has powered up... The Ferngill Arcadium is calling all high-score heroes and retro champions! Do you have what it takes to dominate the leaderboards? Featuring full controller support!” the description of the mod reads.
The awesome not only adds a new location featuring an arcade, but also five custom mini-games, in-game rewards, high scores to beat and much more. Oh, and it even features its own soundtrack
Sadly, however, as is the case with most mods, this is a PC exclusive. For the rest of us, we can at least enjoy Stardew Valley with all of its free official content updates on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and mobile devices.
