Stardew Valley Expanded is massively popular, and free to download now

Stardew Valley is a truly delightful game. I honestly don’t think I could ever tire of it. It’s endlessly fun, cosy, wholesome … I could go on. That being said, while I can’t see myself ever getting bored of Stardew Valley, it doesn’t mean I’ll turn down getting an extra slice of this delectable world.

If you haven’t yet checked out the Stardew Valley Expanded mod, I highly urge you to. Created by modder FlashShifter, the mod does exactly what you’re hoping it does. It adds a wealth of new content - including dozens of new characters, six new marriage candidates, several map changes, the addition of a brand new continent, new events, plus a variety of new fish, crops, and furniture. This is easily the best Stardew Valley mod out there and it’s got the figures to back that sentiment up. As reported by Polygon, Stardew Valley Expanded has had over 1.8 million unique downloads so far.

FlashShifter, real name Devin Hedegaard, first noticed Stardew Valley when he returned home from college and found his brother playing it on the PlayStation 4. He then decided to try it out for himself and well, as they say, the rest is history. After reaching 100% completion on the game, Hedegaard turned to mods but said, “I still wanted more, but there wasn’t anything left so I started teaching myself how to mod”.

The Expanded mod was eventually released, attracting a large fan base and a 19,000 strong Discord server. Hedegaard told Polygon, “There’s a great community here, and there’s so much more you can do with the game once you get into it,” adding, “I’m learning so much on how to handle the issues that pop up when it comes to like the game breaking or the mods breaking and figuring out what needs to be fixed.”
