Red Dead Redemption 2 inspired Hogwarts Legacy mod completely overhauls NPC behaviour

This Red Dead Redemption 2 inspired completely overhauls NPC behaviour in Hogwarts Legacy, massively improving the game.

Hogwarts Legacy certainly laid a lot of solid foundations. Hogwarts castle itself is truly stunning and an utter delight to explore, while the game’s combat largely functions pretty nicely. It’s the game’s open world though that feels like it's full of untapped potential.

While Hogwarts Legacy may boast an aesthetically pleasing open world that does indeed feel sprawling and magical, it’s relatively empty - packed largely with repetitive caves and ruins. On top of that, there are very few unique open world events, something players are hoping to see devs rectify. We now know that an update is coming to Hogwarts Legacy later this year, promising various new features. If you’re a PC player who wants to give the game a boost in the meantime though, you may want to check out the NPC Schedule Enhanced mod.

Enjoy a relaxing tour of Hogwarts’ four house common rooms below.

Created by NexusMods user Khione95, the NPC Schedule Enhanced mod completely overhauls NPC behaviour, inspired by the NPCs you’ll find in Red Dead Redemption 2. If you’ve played Red Dead Redemption 2, you’ll know that the NPCs feel like living breathing people, each with their own unique life and agenda. That’s not the same case in Hogwarts Legacy. Classmates aimlessly wander during the day and disappear almost totally during the night.

Kione95 wrote, “If you played games like Red Dead Redemption 2 then you will know how great NPCs are in those games. This project is trying to get HL a bit closer to those kinds of games and add a proper schedule to the NPCs. [...] With this mod, NPCs no longer disappear. This mod changes almost every named NPC's schedules. It adds various things such as students going to their common rooms at night and visiting Hogsmeade on weekends. Only named NPCs are affected for now. Full features are listed below.”

Alongside the aforementioned changes, professors can now be spotted patrolling the castle at night, vendors will close their shops and return home, students will attend breakfast and dinner in the Great Hall, and they can walk directly from their common rooms to Hogsmeade. It sounds like a great quality-of-life improvement that’s well worth downloading. Hopefully, one day, we’ll see a similar update issued officially to the game.
