When it comes to the titles which will be arriving alongside the PlayStation 6, we still remain very much in the dark.
However, following recent shake-ups at one major development studio, it seems as though we now have an idea of at least one highly-anticipated sequel heading to PlayStation’s next-gen console.
Following the news that Cloud Chamber was undergoing a series of layoffs, rumours have been circulating online that BioShock 4 was still many years away from release.
As a result, it could be launched as a PlayStation 6 title.

Originally planned to be released in 2026/27, it seems as though that date will now be delayed by quite a bit as Take-Two Interactive has laid off around a third of Cloud Chamber’s staff.
With around 80 jobs estimated to have been affected and BioShock 4 itself rumoured to have undergone a complete story change, it seems as though the sequel is in quite deep water.
David Ismailer, 2K President had the following to say:
“While we’re excited about the foundational gameplay elements of the project, we’ve made the decision with studio leadership to rework certain aspects that are core to a BioShock game, and in doing so are reducing the size of the development team to focus on this work and give the game more time in development.”

With internal reviews calling BioShock 4 a “good game” but not a great one, it seems as though it still has a long way to go before it is released.
As a result, it would make sense for the next BioShock entry to launch on the PlayStation 6 when it is inevitably released over the next few years.
However, with Take-Two Interactive bringing in Rod Fergusson as studio head, things are looking up.
Fergusson, who is best known for his work on Diablo 4, Gears of War 2, and Gears 5 also lent his hand to BioShock Infinite so he is no stranger to the beloved franchise.

Hopefully his arrival will push BioShock 4 in the right direction and we will see it launch on the PlayStation 6 over the next few years.
