BioShock 4 Leak Reveals Locations & Characters For Upcoming Sequel

New details have surfaced.

A bunch of BioShock 4 leaks have just surfaced over Christmas, hinting at characters and locations that may appear in the upcoming sequel.

It’s hard to believe it’s been nearly 13 years since the release of BioShock Infinite, and there still doesn’t seem to be any sign of a new game.

While 2K still seems set on eventually making a brand new game in the series, it feels like every new development update we get appears to be bad news.

A new set of leaks that appeared over Christmas has detailed some alleged facts about the upcoming BioShock game, though be sure to take all of this with a pinch of salt without official confirmation from 2K.

As reported by MP1st, BioShock 4 will feature a place called Solaria, or Solaris. This location will also feature a casino as well as frozen environments, hinting at a possible Antarctica setting.

To put my language cap on, “Solaris” is the Latin word for sun. The word has become closely associated with a science-fiction novel by Stanisław Lem also titled Solaris, which depicts a crew of scientists attempting to understand and communicate with an alien species on a distant planet.

Although I doubt BioShock 4 will feature aliens or a space setting, I can imagine the use of “Solaris” acting as a homage to some of the themes and ideas present in Lem’s novel.

After all, the BioShock series is full of similar literature references, with the original game incorporating ideas from Ayn Rand, George Orwell, and Aldous Huxley.

BioShock 4 Protagonist And Antagonist Detailed

MP1st’s report also includes some details regarding characters, with a reference to a “Male Flusher” which may act as this game’s equivalent of Splicers in Rapture. It also looks like the ADAM substance from previous BioShock games may return.

MP1st’s sources have also provided them with an alleged image of a “striking golden statue depicting a stern male figure”, who may allegedly be the villain in the same way Andrew Ryan and Zachary Comstock are represented in their own cities with similar statues.

The report also details the possible protagonist of the game, a “man clad in a sharp, grey suit and tie, fitting perfectly with the mid-century aesthetic the series is known for.”

This follows reports from earlier this month that South of Midnight actress Adriyan Rae may have leaked that she recorded a role for BioShock 4, or at least an older version of the game that may have now changed.
