Red Dead Redemption is about to get a ton of brand-new content

It’s about to get wild in the Wild West

Red Dead Redemption fans are bracing themselves for a ton of brand new content in Rockstar Games’ Wild West classic.

After waiting over 14 years, Rockstar Games finally announced that Red Dead Redemption is officially being ported to PC bundled with its expansion, Undead Nightmare. Originally released in 2010, up until recently, fans of RDR had to make do with emulation on PC but thankfully, that will soon be a thing of the past.

Check out the Red Dead Redemption trailer below!

“Experience the story of former outlaw John Marston as he tracks down the last remaining members of the notorious Van der Linde Gang in the PC debut of the critically acclaimed predecessor to Red Dead Redemption 2,” reads the description of the game.

This long-awaited PC port will come with exclusive features such as a 4K resolution with up to 144hz, ultra and super ultrawide monitor support, adjustable draw distances, shadow quality settings and much more. However, arguably the best feature of all will be mod support.

With that in mind, fans are already getting excited at the prospect of all sorts of mods coming to Red Dead Redemption. “LET’S GO!!!! The mods are gonna be great,” rejoiced Fragrant_Inside_9842.

“Can't wait for the graphics mods,” exclaimed babygronkinohio with KoiTheFish420 adding “Graphics mod on and figure out a way to add RDR onto RDR2, so you play the whole story in one.”

“Trying to combine two games with versions of RAGE that are built for different generations of the console will be difficult,” explained Incachu, bringing expectations crashing down to Earth. “RDR2 brought a lot of graphical and physics innovations that simply wouldn't have been possible on a game engine or hardware of 2010.”

Nonetheless, we can’t wait to see what the modding community comes up with, whether it's improved visuals or new content. Heck, I’m hoping to see Resident Evil 3’s Nemesis in Undead Nightmare.

Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare officially arrive on PC on 29 October 2024.
