Hogwarts Legacy first-person mode gives you a completely new experience

A fresh change in perspective

Hogwarts Legacy is somewhat of a baffling case. It’s a cash cow that’s thus far, been left unmilked.

A slightly cursed analogy but it represents my point. Hogwarts Legacy was 2023’s best-selling new release.

Players would’ve eaten up additional paid content, with many of us keen to explore as-yet unfeatured locations like Diagon Alley or The Ministry of Magic.

I said somewhat baffling because it is clear why Avalanche hasn’t capitalised on this potential.

The studio was too busy beavering away on Hogwarts Legacy’s many versions. Following the PC and current-gen release date in February, previous-gen versions were pushed back to May with the Nintendo Switch edition finally landing in November.

That didn’t exactly leave a ton of resources for additional content, paid or otherwise.

A free update is on the way in the next few months though. This summer should see the ‘Haunted Hogsmeade Shop’ quest unlocked on Nintendo Switch, PC, and Xbox with developers also teasing additional “updates” and “features” for all platforms.

It’s not yet been revealed what these might be. Imagine if the update shadow dropped during Summer Game Fest on 7 June? I could see that being a possibility.

In the meantime, it’s PC players having all the fun as mods can make up for the current lack of post-launch content.

Today, it's NexusMods user YouYouTheBoxx’s project which I want to highlight as you could switch up your playthrough by adding a first-person mode.

Aptly titled ‘First Person AND Customizable Cameras (With UI)’, the mod does exactly what it says on the tin.

PC players finally have the ability to truly jump into the shoes of a budding young witch or wizard rather than looking over the shoulder of one.

I daren’t think too long about what it's like to wander through the Forbidden Forest in first-person …. Those spiders terrify me enough as it is.

Still, for those of you braver than me, this is surely a fun little addition to play around with whilst we await what’s next from Avalanche.

The mod is free to download now from NexusMods.
