OG God Of War gets stunning Unreal Engine 5 remake

OG God Of War gets stunning Unreal Engine 5 remake

Kratos has never looked so good

With the first entry in the God of War series being released way back in 2005, the original hack-and-slash titles are in desperate need of a series of remakes.

However, with Santa Monica Studio seemingly not interested in this right now, it is down to God of War’s original fans to bring the game into the 21st century and that is what one creator has managed.

Check out God of War III Remastered below!

YouTuber EnzoElRich has managed to bring God of War into 2024 courtesy of Unreal Engine 5. By taking the original title and upgrading its enemy system, environment, cinematics and of course, the graphics, the end result is a vast improvement.

In a video spanning just over 10 minutes, the creator shows us how exactly he achieved this massive feat. This includes showing us how he updated Kratos’ look in Unreal Engine 5 as well as how he used inspiration from 2018’s God of War to update camera angles and animations.

As well as sharing his production experiences, EnzoElRich also shares the first few minutes of the game through an updated engine and spoiler alert, it looks great.

From Kratos’ updated look to even a snippet of some combat, it is evident that this is a major improvement on the original 2005 title.

Unfortunately, this is just a passion project and will not be released to the public. However, it goes to show that Santa Monica Studio has some fans calling out for that original remake.

As for EnzoElRich’s project, many fans were impressed, with one saying: “For a job done in three weeks and by a single person, it looks wonderful, partner. You have a lot of talent, how incredible.”

Another agreed, saying: “If you achieved this in just three weeks... I don't want to imagine five or 10 years of development, very fascinating, excellent work.”
