Fallout is all the rage right now, and people will inevitably be returning to the older games in the series, both before and after the release of the second season of the Fallout TV show on Prime Video.

That second season is about to take us all the way to the bright lights of New Vegas and the Mojave Wasteland, as the beloved location shows up in a whole new medium, some nine years after the events of the game of the same name.

As such, you might want to jump back into Obsidian Entertainment's only foray into the Fallout franchise (you really should, it's still amazing) to get up to speed on all of the gangs, factions and significant figures who might appear in the show.

The best way to do that is to get out there and start exploring the wastes, but before you do so, there is a mod that you might want to download that not only makes life a lot easier, but also makes the game a fair bit more realistic.

Over on NexusMods, the Realtime PipBoy Map - ESPless mod has been made available for download, and it's a really nifty piece of ingenuity that should make your next run through a lot better.

Essentially, it adds a feature-rich, realtime version of the Pip-Boy map that's viewable on your arm at any time and updates as you move around or rotate your perspective.

It saves the entire rigmarole around popping in and out of your Pip-Boy menu to make sure you're still going in the right direction, which is particularly useful when you don't have a nearby fast travel point yet.

It comes complete with a ton of icons that mark notable positions on your map, from nearby NPCs, to landmarks and points of interest.

It also has some exciting bonus features, like being able to check radiation levels at a glance, as well as a map border that displays when you are being detected or you have entered combat.

It's also highly configurable, meaning you can allow the mod to be as intrusive as you wish, altering everything in a minor way or totally overhauling how the device functions.

As with all mods on the site, it's totally free to download. Just check that there aren't any conflicts with your list of currently active mods.
