Fallout: New Vegas is one of the most popular Fallout games to exist and its popularity has only skyrocketed since the announcement that Fallout Season 2 will use the iconic setting as its backdrop.
As such there are suddenly a lot of eyes on the game’s developer, Obsidian Entertainment, who actually got to visit the set of Fallout S2 via Bethesda’s own Todd Howard.
Earlier this year Obsidian Entertainment released Avowed, a fantasy RPG that was unfairly compared to Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls series.
Players thought in the build-up to its launch that it’d be the Fallout: New Vegas equivalent to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

That wasn’t exactly the case as while it was a solid RPG it left many wanting more, clearly not learning their lesson from The Outer Worlds which also got comparisons to Bethesda’s Fallout series, but obviously set in space.
Now Obsidian plans to update the game extensively, and has actually pushed back one of its major updates to ensure it’s the best it possibly can be for players.
The upcoming update was supposed to add a Photo Mode and a New Game+ option as the two major additions but now more is on the way.

The studio made the announcement on X, saying: "If you've been following our Update Roadmap, you'll know we planned to release an update this fall. To break the bad news first: Avowed will not be receiving a fall update.
"The good news is that we're shifting our efforts toward a larger update coming next February, timed with the anniversary of the game's release.”

Unfortunately Obsidian was coy with its wording and didn’t give too much away on what will be included, adding: "This update will include everything originally planned for fall, plus additional features that will make it our biggest update yet.”
I haven’t the foggiest ideas as to what this might be but it sounds promising.
While it’s disappointing the game will go without one of its sorely needed updates for the remainder of the year it’s at least comforting to know the features aren’t being scrapped entirely.
Obsidian Entertainment hasn’t alluded to what project it’ll be working on next once support for Avowed ends, but many are hoping it involves another partnership with Bethesda.

A remaster for Fallout: New Vegas feels like the obvious answer but I’d love to see an entirely new Fallout game come from the team, set in a different part of Fallout’s world.
