Fallout 5 be damned, the Fallout 2 remake is looking better every day

We're needed elsewhere

Curious though we are to catch a sneak peek of Fallout 5’s environments and narrative, there are other games we’re more concerned about.

One such experience is a Fallout 2 remake.

Referred to as Project Arroyo, it’s a fan-made creation that’s lovingly reviving the now timeworn 1998 title.

New to Fallout? Then you need to watch this video.

Despite having very positive reviews on Steam, the original Bethesda release is more than showing its age.

There’s something charming about its aesthetic, yet we recognise how these outdated visuals can be off-putting to newcomers eager to know the franchise beyond the TV show and Fallout 4.

Project Arroyo isn’t ready yet. That said, it’s looking better with each passing day.

We’ve finally been allowed a glimpse of Frank Horrigan’s concept art, and we’re blown away by how incredible it looks.

For those of you unfamiliar with this character, Horrigan is the villain of Fallout 2. It could be argued there’s many villains, but he’s by far the most intimidating.

Long-time fans have already remarked on how “badass” the concept art is.

If the final product is half as impressive as its art, we’re in for a real treat with this one.

Speaking to The Gamer about Horrigan, the project’s lead creator, Damion Dante, said, “Frank Horrigan is going to be a tank. I want to add a lot more versatility to him and make him have different stages.”

The final boss fight was already hard going, yet it sounds like it’s about to become a lot harder.

We can’t wait. We love a challenge.

This ambitious project is gathering momentum at a steady pace.

Although we want to play it right this second, we’re happy to wait for everything to come together. After all, perfection can’t be rushed.

If you aren’t already following Project Arroyo’s development, we hope you will be from now on.
