Like all entries in the Fallout series, Fallout 3 may be set after a nuclear war, but thanks to this DLC-sized download, the post-apocalyptic world has received a much needed rebirth.

Released back in 2008 and acting as the first Fallout title to have been developed by Bethesda Softworks, Fallout 3 took us to the ruins of Washington, D.C. as we took on the role of a Vault 101 inhabitant who must go above ground to search for their missing father.

Check out the trailer for Fallout 3 below!

Praised by critics and players alike, Fallout 3 was a success and is widely regarded as one of the best RPGs of all time.

However, it is possible to improve on greatness.

At least according to Tel Shadow over on Nexus Mods who has created Fallout 3 Rebirth.

Fallout 3 Rebirth is a free mod which “visually overhauls 95% of all the exterior locations making them seem less empty and more lived in before the bombs dropped and everyone started to panic.”

Not only that but the overhaul aims to make outposts look more like compounds and even increases the number of them as well as their raider bosses.

Last but not least, it aims to drastically improve all Super Mutant camps.

“Hello all and welcome to Fallout 3 Rebirth,” the mod description reads.

“This adds a new lick of paint to the wasteland which is why I went with the name rebirth because it's turning the land into new…

This project overhauls almost all the locations in Fallout 3 due to them being empty and seeming a bit too depopulated…

I have tried my best to make the world blend and seem like it was always in the vanilla game.”

Highways will now be full of traffic, Super Mutant camps will have prisoners to save, and Wilhelm’s Wharf will be more populated with fellow wastelanders.

Over 50 locations throughout Fallout 3 have been reworked with this mod and so you are guaranteed to be met with all sorts of surprises on your next playthrough.

So if you are a PC gamer and want an excuse to play Fallout 3 again, do not miss out on this mod.
