Dark Souls 2 isn’t exactly an unattractive game, yet, with it being 10 years old, it’s starting to really look its age.

Sure, you could push through and endure; after all, why wouldn’t you want to play a very positively reviewed game.

Nonetheless, while there’s much hardship and challenge to still be found within the epic battles of this FromSoftware title, there’ll soon be a way to appreciate it through a new lens.

Modder Ganaboy is currently working on a major visual upgrade for Dark Souls 2.

If the name of the creator sounds familiar, that’s because Ganaboy created ‘DS2LightingEngine SotFS’. This mod “updates its shading model techniques to the latest ones”, what is more, it also “has dynamic shadows for the entire game”.

But, as with most creations, it can be improved upon further.

Ganaboy is working on introducing DLAA and DLSS support to the mod, meaning RTX users can reap the benefits of enhanced visuals and performance improvements.

Considering the lighting engine mod is so popular with Bandai Namco fans already, we suspect this update will be beloved too.

In a video showcasing a test of the planned update, we can see that the modder has already been hard at work making this download a reality we can all enjoy.

That said, there’s no firm date of when the upgrade will be ready for players to download; we simply know it’s coming soon.

While the current mod might not suit all your visual needs, it’ll improve your experience while you wait for the DLAA and DLSS support to be implemented.

If you’re really chomping at the bit to get back into Soulsborne action, there’s a certain Elden Ring DLC that is just crying out for you to test your mettle against it.

The moment we know more about this graphics upgrade, we’ll be sure to let you know.
