Zelda fans torn over Ocarina of Time Switch 2 remake, and we can see why

Some things are best left well alone

Perhaps getting a Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake isn’t what we want after all.

For years now, the Legend of Zelda community has begged for Ocarina of Time to be remade.

The thought of it being as graphically beautiful as Tears of the Kingdom is almost too much for us to bear.

However, some fans worry that only disappointment awaits us in a future where the popular Nintendo classic is remade.

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is a delight, but does it really need a remake?

The Nintendo Switch 2 has the rumour mill working overtime, not least of all when it comes to remakes of retro titles.

But one adventure is missing from the latest speculation discussions: Ocarina of Time.

This has led to some confusion amongst fans.

“It's a shame really. Lots of games from that era are getting remakes. OoT remake could be a cheap and easy project for the Zelda team to relearn from the classic formula and bring it back in parts for future games,” Podunk_Boy89 remarked.

Not everyone agrees though.

DefiantCharacter responded, “Why would it be cheap and easy? A remake would involve remaking the game from scratch with all new assets and code. Almost as much work as making a new game, just without coming up with a story.”

If a remake was a cheap project for Nintendo, it would surely end in disaster with a whole fandom out for blood.

That being said, there’s an argument to be made that gamers will be dissatisfied with a remake no matter how incredible it is.

User hassis556 suggested as much, saying, “Don’t forget that people will b**ch no matter what, that ‘it’s not the same' blah blah.”

For every 10 fans who love it, another 20 will roast it for being trash. We see it every time a new game is added to a franchise, or a remake is made that doesn’t quite live up to the high expectations everyone has.

As much as we’d love to see a revamped Ocarina of Time, maybe it’s best to stick with what we have: a beloved classic that always entertains us.
