Nintendo Switch 2 players are diving into some of the games available on the new console, but one in particular has torn fans.

With the release of the Switch 2 came the new GameCube Classics collection. Over time, Nintendo will make GameCube games available to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers.

At the moment, the app only includes F-ZERO GX, Soulcalibur II, and The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker.

However, titles like Super Mario Sunshine, Luigi's Mansion, and Mario Smash Football are confirmed to be added at a later date.

Now that it’s out in the wild though, Zelda fans are a little divided on The Wind Waker’s gameplay on Switch 2.

Some footage from The Wind Waker being played on Nintendo Switch 2 was posted to a Reddit page dedicated to the game, and fans weren’t too happy about the quality.

“This looks dreadful. This isn't even the HD version,” wrote one comment.

“Oh god, ngl this looks terrible,” another commenter wrote. “Why is the aspect ratio so small?”

A third comment wrote: “We're probably still going to get those HD ports. I bet Nintendo will begrudgingly hand them over when they're trying to boost Switch 2 from a slump in sales.”

The “HD version” refers to The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, which was ported to Wii U in 2013.

This version of the game is often regarded by fans as the more superior release. It supports HD textures and widescreen resolutions, as well as improved lighting.

The HD remaster also featured some quality-of-life improvements, such as the ability to sail faster on the sea, and streamlined certain quests and items for a better experience.

Still, even though most would rather have the HD version on Switch 2, at least it shows Nintendo hasn’t forgotten about it.

Hopefully we will still get those ports of The Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD at some point in the future.
