One of the best Zelda games of all time is available to play on Nintendo Switch Online, but fans agree there’s another way Nintendo needs to bring the classic back.

Ocarina of Time is hailed by fans as one of the best games in the The Legend of Zelda series, and is widely accepted as one of the best games of all time, too.

The original Nintendo 64 version of the game is available to play on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 via an active Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack subscription.

But as good as this version is, having an emulated classic version isn’t quite taking advantage of the hardware in the same way a remake would.

“Do you think they will do a remake of Ocarina of Time on the Switch 2?” reads a post on the Legend of Zelda Reddit page.

“If they did i would want it to be a full reimagining like Final Fantasy 7 Remake,” wrote a comment in the replies. “I feel like the game is as good as it can be so I would want a new take on the same story.”

“I would like a OOT and MM [Majora’s Mask] remake, but I don't know how realistic those are,” wrote another comment.

Both Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask received remakes for the 3DS in 2011 and 2015. These were also released between HD versions of The Wind Waker and Twilight Princess.

Considering Nintendo’s big push for classic Zelda remakes during the 3DS and Wii U era, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that HD versions of these games could make their way over to the Switch 2.

We already got Skyward Sword HD on Switch, after all, so never say never.

Some fans, however, prefer the idea of different remakes. One wrote: “Personally, I hope the next remake is the Oracles. Especially since OoT already got a remake.”

One of the best things about the 3DS and Wii U is it had every single Zelda game available between them in some shape or form, including the now hard to find Phantom Hourglass and A Link Between Worlds.

Maybe one day we’ll be able to play every single Zelda on our Switch 2 consoles.
