It’s been 28 years since we first heard the melodic tunes of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and while we’ve revisited this topsy-turvy timeline adventure many times since, there are questions about when Nintendo will bite the bullet and finally give us that long-rumored remake.
Up there with the likes of GoldenEye 007 and Super Mario 64, Zelda did far more than define the Nintendo 64 era of gaming, with many holding it was one of the best video games of all time. It’s true that fans have enjoyed the Master Quest version, an enhanced version of the 3DS, and booting up this classic on the Switch, but why isn’t Nintendo taking a leaf out of Capcom’s book by giving us a full-blown remake in the vein of 2019’s Resident Evil?
All of this could all be about to change thanks to one leaker’s previous scoop being backed up by an unexpected announcement. A remake of Star Fox 64 (sometimes known as Lylat Wars) is coming to the Switch 2 on the 25 of June, soaring onto the eShop for £41.99/$49.99 digitally. The simply titled Star Fox has been dubbed as a “cinematic take” on the 1997 rail shooter, and after Glen Powell popped up as that fury fighter in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, timing couldn’t be better to revisit the franchise.
The idea of a Star Fox 64 revamp was teased by noted leaker NatetheHate, who also had some interesting thoughts on Ocarina. Speaking in April 2026, NateTheHate said: “This is something I was a bit hesitant about in January. I didn't know if they'd do a full remake. I thought maybe they would do a HD remaster, but I'm hearing an Ocarina of Time remake.”
Advert
The leaker admitted he didn’t know whether it would be a detailed 1:1 remake akin to FromSoftware’s Demon’s Souls remake from 2020, or we’d be able to roam more freely like Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, but either way, it sounds like a license to print money.

Some doubted NateTheHate’s credentials, and while it’s true he’s not been right about everything, he’s turned his skeptics around thanks to Star Fox. Although he originally pencilled Fox McCloud’s next adventure in for an April reveal, it seems that timings slipped. Nate recently defended himself on X when one disgruntled gamer demanded answers, adding: “As said several days ago: I do not doubt the game's existence.
“Several outlets/people have spoken on the game beyond me, as well. Timing for reveal was off the mark & wrong. That's a miss by me.”
Proving that patience is a virtue, Star Fox’s announcement has just given NateTheHate some serious flowers.
Joining the dots in the aftermath of Star Fox taking flights, someone took to X to write: “We are yet again getting a remake of Star Fox 64 exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2, releasing on June 25, 2026. This is a thing... and it seems like an Ocarina of Time remake is just around the corner…” We’ve been burned before by getting our hopes up for Zelda remasters, but while The Wind Waker seems lost at sea, we could soon be dancing to Skull Kid’s tune if Ocarina of Time finally gets the TLC it deserves.
