The upcoming remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time has dazzled fans around the world ever since being announced earlier this week.
Whether you’re pro-remake or anti-remake, the reveal has at least done one very important thing: it’s got people talking about Zelda again.
The trailer we’ve got at the moment is quite short, but it has a few crucial details in it that will become important later on.
Namely, we now know that Nintendo are going for a more realistic art style, similar to Ocarina of Time’s blend of earthy colours and polygonal character models, but on a higher fidelity scale.

Also, based on the small glimpse that we saw during the trailer, it looks like the design of the Hylian Shield has changed as well.
As spotted by Game Rant, the Hylian Shield that appears in the remake of Ocarina of Time is seemingly using the same design that was introduced in Skyward Sword, and has also appeared in Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.
This design uses a smaller design for the crest and Triforce, and the extra triangle located at the bottom of the shield is gone, too. It’s also been noted that the Master Sword has transformed as well, making subtle changes to the hilt and grip parts of the weapon.

Nonetheless, despite the change from the original, Zelda fans have voiced lots of praise for what we’ve seen so far.
Over on the Reddit community True Zelda, described as “a place for informative and interesting Zelda-related content and discussions without all the extra fluff,” several users have shared their thoughts on the trailer.
“It’s hard to form an opinion with no gameplay, but I like it’s not like BotW’s art style,” reads one comment, referring to the fact that Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom had a painterly, cel-shaded aesthetic with impressionist landscapes.
“Graphics are good, but ‘realistic graphics’ were never what made Zelda games incredible. Honestly, if they were TOO realistic, I'd be worried that the game's imaging became more important than its content,” reads another comment in the same thread.
A third comment reads: “I'm withholding judgment because it was so short, but I do have to say that despite hyping myself up to see it, I think I was mostly a little thrown off by that teaser. The narration was pretty out of left field; it just felt like a very awkward way to introduce a super iconic remake. I'm not upset about it or anything, but I am hoping it doesn't indicate that the actual game is gonna have loud-ass voice acting like that.”
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake will launch later this year on Nintendo Switch 2.
