Nintendo has dropped a free demo so that you can go hands-on with one of its biggest upcoming releases to see if it plays as well as it looks.
Ever since the NES arrived in Japan in 1983, before becoming a common fixture in households across the world, Nintendo has graced us with a plethora of iconic franchises that are still going strong today, such as Super Mario and The Legend of Zelda.
Over the years, as console generations evolved, Nintendo has provided us with even more fantastic franchises, and the franchise that is the topic of this article first swooped into our homes on the SNES in 1993. The franchise in question is Star Fox.
Granted, the Star Fox series has never always knocked it out of the park with Star Fox 64 (aka Lariant Wars) on the Nintendo 64 being the best and the GameCube’s Star Fox Assault being the worst, but no matter what, love for the franchise has never died. Hence why, there are a lot of fans looking forward to the latest release coming this month.
Speaking of Star Fox 64, the new game coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 is actually a remake of that game that was originally released in 1997. So, if you’re going to pick an entry to remake, you might as well make it the game which many consider to be the best in the series.
Get briefed on #StarFox ahead of its launch on June 25th!

Star Fox on the Nintendo Switch 2 may not be released until another couple of weeks, but you can check out a sample of the game right now courtesy of the Nintendo eShop with its free playable demo.
There’s no detail on how big the download size is for the Star Fox demo, but the full game is just under 15GB, so I would hazard a guess that it might be around 5GB. So, it shouldn't be too taxing on your system storage.
The Star Fox demo will let you play the prologue of the full game, which also includes basic training. Hopefully, there’s enough in the demo to help you conclude that the full game is worth coughing up the cash for.
“Just played through Meteo, loving the new voice lines and everything feels and looks great! So pumped for the full game!” exclaimed Reddit user BananaCucho.
“Everything is great so far as the demo goes!” said Beneficial_Bug_7604.
“HYPED!!!” yelled yiganotebook.
“Fox McCloud and his wingmen are back in Star Fox, a remake of the Nintendo 64 game Lylat Wars, only on Nintendo Switch 2. Strap in for intense aerial combat as you take the Lylat System back from Dr Andross, one planet at a time!” reads the synopsis of the game.
Star Fox will be released on Nintendo Switch 2 later this month on 25 June.
