The hype surrounding Pokémon Pokopia has somewhat settled, but that doesn’t detract from the fact that this cosy spin-off remains a major GOTY contender.
While State of Play, Summer Game Fest, and the Xbox Showcase may have erased Pokémon Pokopia from your social media timelines, it’s still being enjoyed by tons of players.
After all, there’s a lot of ground to cover in the title. I’ve rolled credits, but in terms of decorating, it’s only Bleak Beach that’s looking 50% presentable.
I have much work to do and plenty more habitats to create, and I’m not alone in that.

That work is only going to multiply as rumour has it that Pokémon Pokopia’s first DLC could be revealed as soon as this week, with a launch planned for later this year.
The reputable Centro LEAKS is one of the accounts that posted the rumour, although it’s not attributed to any specific individual.
“Pokémon Pokopia DLC could be announced this week, potentially at the upcoming Nintendo Direct, with a release in fall,” the account said.
It’s widely believed that a Nintendo Direct will be held this week after insiders recently surfaced with the claim.
The Nintendo eShop has already scheduled maintenance for tomorrow, 9 June, adding fuel to the fire.
Update: Store maintenance has now been delayed to 11 June.
Pokémon creator Light_88_ added some extra information, although again, didn’t attribute this to a specific source.
They noted that the DLC is said to focus on underwater areas, adding new diving mechanics with Manaphy among the Pokémon rumoured to appear.
The DLC could even feature a co-op underwater exploration mode.
As the sources are vague for all of this, I’d urge you to take the information with a hefty pinch of salt.
That being said, it does fit with what was mentioned in a former Pokémon Company leak, which teased five DLC ‘lands’.
Those are:
It sounds as if the Ceruleon area might be the first DLC to launch.
This would explain why the base game features so much underwater loot that players cannot reach.

Across all of the base regions, you can spot wood, stones, and more beneath the ocean’s surface and yet we cannot reach them, given that the Lapras transformation allows floating on the ocean’s surface only.
It would be a treat to see Pokémon Pokopia DLC announced, especially as the game has been so irregular with its events.
Shortly after launch, Nintendo launched the More Spores for Hoppip event in March, which was followed by the Sableye’s Gem Hunt event in April.
Nothing has surfaced since then, much to the surprise of players. But perhaps this rumoured grand reveal will be the content update we’ve all been waiting for.
