Nintendo Drops Strangest Exclusive Freebie You'll Ever See On Switch
What were Nintendo trying to cook?

Select Nintendo Switch owners have just gotten one of the most bizarre freebies they’ll have ever seen, but an adorable one at that.
Nintendo has been very busy this week. Not only has it dropped a fresh batch of free games for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers it’s also removed content from one of its most popular games.
That’s not all the company has been up to though as earlier today a new freebie was dropped, depending on your region.
Hello, Yoshi! was dropped onto the Nintendo Switch eShop for free and is an interactive application that lets you play games with everyone’s favourite green dinosaur.
You’d think this would be tied into Yoshi’s theatrical debut in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie or his new spin-off Yoshi and the Mysterious Book but nope, it’s just a standalone freebie Nintendo decided to spit out one day.

In terms of “gameplay” it’s rather simple in design. Users can pull, stretch and spin Yoshi’s face to create a number of goofy impressions, just for fun.

It’s reminiscent of Super Mario 64’s title screen which lets you play around with a 3D, malleable model of Mario’s head. You could pull his moustache, wiggle his nose around and try to rip his hat off his head.
You can also summon power-ups or enemies for Yoshi to interact with on-screen, and even play peekaboo with him which might attract the attention of Boo…
As you’re probably gathering this application is aimed at kids, or parents with kids.
Built-in breaks will send Yoshi to sleep so a child can’t spend hours on the console but this feature can be turned off in the settings.
One last thing worth noting is the game doesn’t require an internet connection or Nintendo Switch Online in order to play.
At the time of writing Hello, Yoshi! is only available to download from the United States eShop, though there are probably plans to roll it out to other countries too.
It’s also available to download from the Google Play Store and Apple Store for use on tablet devices.

All in all it’s a pretty cute application and good for parents who want to spend time with their kids, who perhaps aren't old enough to enjoy a proper Nintendo game.
Nintendo has always been a company that champions creativity amongst everything else so it’s nice to see it continue innovating even with just simple freebies like this.
