Nintendo haven't exactly made a name for themselves by giving away a bunch of free stuff for their games, but they have become a little better at sweetening the deal in recent years.
I think that a big part of that is the realisation that cosmetics and customisation are a big thing for Nintendo players (myself included), who spend hundreds of hours unlocking every character in Kirby Air Riders, or every item in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
The brilliant Mario Kart World is no exception to that rule, with a ton of unlockables and ways to make your profile stand out, amongst the thousands of other racers you may encounter on a daily basis in the game's online modes.
Now, we've had confirmation of the specifics behind one of the best ways of doing just that, and there's some cool cosmetics that have just entered the rotation.
Nintendo Confirms Upcoming NSO Icons for Mario Kart World

As first pointed out by NSO Icon Alerts on Twitter, the latest rotation for Mario Kart World Icons has been confirmed by the developer, and there are plenty to choose from.
They include 26 different icons to show off your favourite racers and settings, as well as five borders to add a little jazzy finish to proceedings.
At the same time, you can pick up five borders for your profile, allowing you to make your profile stand out even more.
Mario Kart World is joined in offering new profile customisation options by other platform giants including Super Mario Galaxy, F-Zero 99, Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Donkey Kong Bananza.

All of those picks will be pooled and a selection will be rotated weekly until 22 February, so make sure to login at least once per week to ensure you don't miss the one that you've been waiting for.
The comments underneath the original post were predictably excitable, with one simply reading, "DESERT HILLS ICON LETS GOOO."
"Yo, we finally get a proper shot of Daisy's palace! Snatching that one ASAP," another added.
If you haven't taken the leap on Mario Kart World, you really should think about doing so, with our own review scoring it 8/10 and confirming the game is, "an absolutely fantastic kart racer that’s just as chaotic, imaginative, and vibrant as its predecessors."
