An upcoming release in The Legend of Zelda franchise is already leaving many gamers impressed.
As you’re likely well aware, Tokyo Game Show is underway, and it’s already delivered tons in the way of news.
For Nintendo fans, perhaps one of the biggest announcements has been that Professor Layton and the New World of Steam is now targeting a 2026 launch.
I’m desperate to get my hands on it, but I certainly don’t want the game to be rushed.

The event has also brought us a much better look at the upcoming Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, a Legend of Zelda spin-off.
I’ll confess, I’m not a diehard fan of the franchise so understanding this game’s timeline is pretty tough, although I’m hearing it’s not much easier for fans either.
The previous Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity was a Breath of the Wild prequel, and the upcoming Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment is a Tears of the Kingdom prequel.
And yet, Age of Imprisonment is also set before Breath of the Wild.

The game will follow the events of the Imprisoning War of which there’s several.
One took place between The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and A Link to the Past, but then there’s another featured in Tears of the Kingdom.
But then what we’re receiving in Age of Imprisonment is an alternate take on the event anyway where Princess Zelda will travel back in time.
If I’ve butchered that, I’m sorry. I’m doing my best.

The point is that the title, developed with Koei Tecmo’s AAA Games Studio, is set to arrive very soon on 6 November 2025.
Ahead of that date, gameplay footage has surfaced at Tokyo Game Show, and it has left fans impressed.
Twitter/X account rodrigocoelhoc shared gameplay footage to the social media site which was picked up by popular user Stealth40k.
“Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment Switch 2 gameplay from Tokyo Game Show. It runs at a smooth 60fps and looks fantastic,” they wrote.

“Oh so we just STRAIGHT UP get to explore in-between Warriors battles?! That’s awesome,” replied Chibi22395.
“Wait hold up..I had no idea the gameplay was like this,” added LuckySevenPlays.
“Oh that’s fantastic! I remember the first trailer ran at like 15fps,” remarked vinheim.
It looks as if it’s going to be a positive start as the first new Switch 2 Zelda entry.

Don’t forget that the franchise celebrates its 40th anniversary in February. I wonder what surprises are in store for then?
