Cyberpunk 2077 surprise new release gives us something we've longed for

This goes hard

The CD Projekt RED mega-hit Cyberpunk 2077 is getting anew lease of life when the game launches on Nintendo Switch 2 in a few months time, and fans couldn’t be happier.

The game has come a long way since its rocky launch, and is now considered a stone-cold banger, so being able to play it in handheld, on the Nintendo Switch 2 is to be celebrated.

Nintendo fans will be able to experience the best of Cyberpunk 2077.

What’s perhaps cooler than this is the ability to use the Joy Con 2 controllers to swing the in-game katanas, pretending you’re as badass as you feel.

As my editor puts it, “This goes hard as f**k.”

Yes, it does indeed. Though many might not dabble with the motion controls within the game on release, it does show that CD Projekt RED is embracing the quirks of the Nintendo console.

The developers of Cyberpunk 2077 spoke on the prospect of bringing the game to the Nintendo hybrid console with excitement.

After saying, “You can use one of your Joy-Con's to fight with your katana,” they went on to discuss the challenges of porting the technical game over.

Continuing, they said, “Development still had challenges, of course, as any development process does, but we've been careful in picking trade-offs to not compromise the game's vision.”

The game will be available packaged with its knock-out DLC, Phantom Liberty, bringing new players the full experience of Night City.

I’m not sure how many players will experience the full game while swinging their arms about in their living room, but I’m sure that everyone will give it a go, at least once.

It will certainly bring a new level of immersion to the game, and give you a bit of a workout along the way.

Thankfully, the Switch 2 version of the game shouldn’t have as many issues as the original launch of the game, and will be a great way to experience the adventure.
