This year, everyone’s favourite plumber is celebrating his 40th anniversary - and it’s going to be a jam-packed occasion.
In just a few days time, Mario Tennis Fever is set to launch to kick things off, with plenty of other delicious treats on the way throughout the year.
Super Mario Bros. Wonder - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park lands on 26 March, with The Super Mario Galaxy Movie arriving a short while after on 1 April.
We've also got Yoshi and the Mysterious Book scheduled to release sometime this spring, and I’d be shocked if the tailend of the year didn’t feature additional surprises.

That’s far from all. Fans of Mario can soon pick up a real life Talking Flower and an array of new amiibo, plus there’s new nods to the character at the Nintendo Museum in Japan.
All of this will cost you money. You know what won't though? The latest batch of Nintendo Switch Online icons.
New NSO Icons Have Arrived, With Super Mario Odyssey and 3D World Referenced
Yes, a new batch of Super Mario themed icons has dropped. In fact, it’s quite the bumper selection.
If my counting is correct, Nintendo Switch users can now select from 40 new icons, 20 new backgrounds, and 20 new frames.
There’s no set theme with Super Mario Odyssey, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and Super Mario 3D World all amongst the games referenced.
You can pick up feline versions of Toad, Peach, Luigi, and Mario - one of my personal favourite power-ups.

There’s Mario, Bowser, and Peach in their Odyssey wedding get-up too, as well as some classic options like a Piranha Plant, Blooper, and Fire Flower.
As always, the icons will cost you 10 Platinum Points each, while the frames and backgrounds will only set you back five Platinum Points each.
In terms of how these icons are free, Platinum Points is a free currency that all Nintendo Switch users can access.
Signing into My Nintendo will reveal a slew of activities you can complete to increase what’s in your coffers with many actions repeatable week after week.
Signing in weekly should nab you 30 points for example, while there are around 70 points obtainable via weekly missions.
The bottom line is that you should never be short of something to do if you require Platinum Points to exchange for a new icon.
The Nintendo Switch Online icons do refresh on a regular basis though with this latest batch of Super Mario themed offerings only sticking around until 16 February.
So if you do spot anything you’d like, I’d recommend acting sooner rather than later. Or you could say let’s a go.
