Nintendo has revealed its pipeline of new Super Mario free icons that Switch and Switch 2 users can download over the next few weeks.

As revealed on X (formerly Twitter), new icons themed around Super Mario Bros. Wonder are being released to coincide with the new Switch 2 expansion, titled Meetup in Bellabel Park.

The new icons will be released in three waves, across a three-week period, and feature character designs, frames, and backgrounds inspired by the game.

The icon designs feature a variety of different Super Mario characters, including Luma, Rosalina, and of course, the big man Mario himself.

You’ll be able to collect these free icons on a weekly basis, beginning from this week. Here’s the full schedule of when to expect the next wave to drop, and when each one also expires.

  • Wave 1
  • Begins 25 March
  • Ends 1 April
  • Wave 2
  • Begins 1 April
  • Ends 8 April
  • Wave 3
  • Begins 8 April
  • Ends 15 April

Presumably, these won’t be the only icons Nintendo drops over the next few weeks. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is due to release in cinemas on 1 April, so we may see some new icons themed around the release of the film.

How To Claim And Redeem Free Nintendo Switch Icons

If you want to redeem these icons and add them to your account, boot up your Nintendo Switch or Switch 2 device, then navigate to the Nintendo Switch Online app on the home screen.

Once you’re in, go to ‘Missions & Rewards’ and then navigate to the new set of icons themed around Super Mario Bros. Wonder and the Meetup in Bellabel Park expansion.

Icons cost 10 Platinum Points each, while frames and backgrounds are 5 Platinum Points each. You can earn more points by performing various tasks related to Nintendo Switch Online and many of Nintendo’s first-party games.
